It was a wonderful evening with a full house and wonderful ceremony to close the festival. Thank you to the organizers of the IFFF and to everyone who came out to support the film!

Randall Sharp wins BEST DIRECTOR in Long Island

Randall Sharp was named Best Director (2008) last night at the Long Island International Film Expo in Bellmore, NY. Previously "Henry May Long" was awarded the Triple Play Award for Best Technical Integration from the LIIFE - awarded to Ben Wolf for Cinematography, Eric Friedewald for Art Direction and Max Richter for Original Score.

This brings the total award count to 12! Hopefully more news to come!

HENRY MAY LONG has just been accepted into the Independent Features Film Festival in New York City.

After an online competition of over 150 films HENRY MAY LONG was chosen as one of the top 21 films to screen at Tribeca Cinemas in New York. The screening will be on July 27th at 6:00PM (Theater 1). The 2007 festival received over 405 million media impressions including USA Today and the Hollywood Reporter. This is an opportunity that gives us all the chance to provide HENRY MAY LONG the New York City premiere it deserves!

"...what makes "Henry May Long" so unusual (is that) it's maybe the first festival entry I've seen that uses a period setting in straight fashion (i.e. not for a gag or as a jumping off point)... "Henry May Long" has the look of a much more expensive production. Writer/Director Randy Sharp brings late 19th century New York to life with her use of historical locations for shooting and the way she lights her scenes. It isn't often that one comes across a smaller feature as ambitious as this, and for that alone Sharp is to be commended."

If Edith Wharton had written "The Talented Mr. Ripley", it would look a lot like writer/director Randall Sharp's debut film. A moody period piece set in 1880s New York, "Henry May Long" is the story of two Henrys. Henry May is a rich playboy, who has wiled away part of the family fortune on bad investments, drugs and prostitutes. Just as he hits bottom, May runs into an old school chum and working class success-story Henry Long. Soon Long reveals he is terminally ill and will pay off May's debts in exchange for his companionship.

Long's motivations are shrouded in as many layers as the gentlemen's wardrobe. Is it love, jealousy or revenge that drives him? What is clear is that one man's redemption is the other's undoing.

The film incorporates visually stunning interiors, including luxurious turn-of-the-century New York mansions, hole in the wall bars and bordellos and colorful seaside rooming houses. With cinematography steeped in sumptuously rich burgundy velvets, black wools, luscious mahogany woods, bright porcelain china and gold artifacts, the film is a darkly intimate feast for the eyes.
